Laurie Hutzler has a B.S. from the University of Minnesota, a J.D. from
New York Law School and an M.F.A. in screenwriting from the UCLA Film
School. She is a consultant assisting entertainment industry
professionals in developing movies and television programs for both
domestic and international markets. She has been teaching at UCLA
since 1998.
She created the Emotional Toolbox to help writers, directors, producers
and other creative decision-makers strengthen and clarify characters
and story. She specializes in building the emotional bond that
creates audience satisfaction.
Laurie uses a practical problem-solving approach for a variety of
international clients and in her classes in Master of Fine Arts Program
at the UCLA Film School. Her assistance helps individuals and creative
teams “Get to the Heart of the Story”.
She has taught hundreds of creative executives, writers, producers and
directors how to increase their success in every popular commercial
genre. Laurie has worked with creative decision-makers at Disney (US), BBC
(London), RTE (Ireland), RTL (Germany), NRK (Norway),
and S4C (Wales)among many others.
Laurie also teaches a number of seminars, which are open to the public,
through the UCLA Film School Professional Programs.
